Notes: For tape brands, I've switched to the KAO Golds exclusively. They're the best tape I've used so far and that's what my preference is. I'm consistently seeing error counts below 0010. If we're trading I'll accept other brands but I don't want the once used tapes or unlabeled media. Labeled tape only please, and my preference is for Sony (no orange hubs), Maxell, Ampex or Panasonic. Lately I've run across some really crappy unlabeled tapes that were claimed to be KAO. They gunked my heads so horribly I needed to have both of them serviced (I attempted to clone the tape in 3 decks, all resulted in error counts in excess of 6000).

End of Star > WRS - sounds *very* nice. The story on this tape is that it was found at a garage sale in Woodacre CA. The reel was transferred to the digital domain at KABA studios. There is some sort of non-music/non-digital noise in the middle of WRS that sounds like Cousin It laughing in the left channel. A friend of mine has a copy of the PCM from which this DAT was made and it's the same on his.

The following blemishes are also on the master tape: A quick (~1 second) DO near the end of Good Morn Lil Schoolgirl. 3 DO's in the tuning before This Time Forever. The tunings seque into the song, and the last one just barely clips the start, but IMO, doesn't detract from it too much. 1 large dropout (~7 min) that extends from the end of Throwing Stones (after the "papa's gone" part) through most of Matt Kelley's song Every Little Light. 1 quick DO at the start of Knockin'.
